How to Apply MI Paste

How to Apply MI Paste™ and MI Paste Plus™

What is it?

MI Paste Plus is water based topical fluoride cream containing Recaldent TM with CCP-ACPF (casein phosphopeptide-amor-phous Calcium phosphate fluoride).

MI Paste with RECALDENT(CPP-ACPF) is recommended to help re-calcify and restore oral balance.

When CPP-ACPF is applied to at risk surfaces, it binds calcium, phosphate and fluoride to plaque, bacteria, biofilm, hydroxyapatite, and soft tissue improving saliva flow and fluoride uptake.

Saliva will enhance the effectiveness of the CPP-ACPF and the flavor will help stimulate saliva flow.

Why use it?

Topical paste with bio-available calcium, phosphate and fluoride:

• Provides extra protection for teeth

Helps neutralize acid challenges from acideogenic bacteria in plaque.

• Helps neutralize acid challenges from other internal and external acid sources.

This product is indicated for the following:

• Following in-office bleaching procedures to help remineralize and desensitize.

• After ultrasonic, hand scaling or root planing

• Following professional tooth cleaning

• For high risk caries patients

• For special needs adult patients

• For patients undergoing orthodontic treatment

• For patients suffering from erosion, Xerostomia or Sjogrens Syndrome

• As an alternative means of applying fluoride topically in children over six (6) or special needs adults.

How to use it:

In-Office Application:

• Tray Application

• Extrude a generous layer of MI Paste Plus into the tray and apply to the upper and lower teeth.

• Leave the tray undisturbed in the mouth for a minimum of 3 minutes.

• Remove the tray

• Instruct the patient to use the tongue to spread the remaining MI Paste Plus throughout the mouth.

• Retain for as long as possible avoiding expectoration and delaying swallowing. The longer the paste and saliva are maintained in the mouth, the more effective the result.

• Ask the patient to expectorate thoroughly and if possible avoid rinsing.  Any MI Paste remaining on the surface can be left to gradually dissipate.

• Advise the patient not to eat or drink for 30 minutes following application.
