Gingivitis …..you may not even know you have it!
One out of two Americans have it!!!
What is it?
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums that surround the teeth, caused by plaque and bacterial build up from poor oral hygiene.
What are the signs you have gingivitis?
Don’t ignore the signs.
What does that mean?
Usually it means you are not brushing enough. Your gums cannot talk.. so they bleed.
They bleed to tell you they need you to pay more attention to them.
If you see red on your toothbrush or when you spit in the sink , that is your early warning sign you are not brushing enough.
You need to slow down when brushing and spend more time brushing your gums and your teeth together.
You should be brushing for a full two minutes twice a day. Once in the morning once at night.
Most of the people I see on a daily basis are only brushing once a day for less than a minute.
This is why gingivitis and periodontal disease, affects 64 million Americans.
We can bring that % down if we just start taking our time, brushing longer with intention.
Gingivitis unlike periodontal disease is reversible. If we take the time to learn better brushing habits from the start, we can stop gingivitis in its tracks.
If you already have bleeding gums, see your dental professional to find out for sure if you have it and what they recommend, before it processes to periodontal disease.
Brush two times twice a day, floss. If you know you are not going to floss get a Waterpik. Use an anti-gingivitis toothpaste or mouthwash.
Periodontax or Listerine
All it takes is you
All it takes is you, determination and using your toothbrush consistently and effectively as a tool to get rid of gingivitis.
It seems to simple right?
It is simple…If you don’t brush well you get it and unless it is a sever case you just brush to get rid of.
Will you help me in reducing the % of Americans that have this disease?
If yes type you e-mail address in the comments while I am waiting for my site to be set up.
