The question is ….Are they good or bad for your teeth?

Like everything in this life it depends on who you talk too.

The short answer both!!!

So you have heard the saying “An apple a day keep the Dr away!”

What about the dentist?

1500 years ago apples were used in ancient holistic practices.

According to the American Heart Association apples and pears may reduce heart attacks and strokes by 52%.

Apples contain pectin naturally which is a form of fiber ldl cholesterol,blood glucose levels and blood pressure.

Apples also contain vitamins A, C, E, beta carotin,boron,quercetin , polyherols and Tannins which can reduce risk of some cancers, Alzheimer’s, asthma, heart disease , diabetes and other age related diseases.

Apples have been referred to as Natures candy and natures toothbrush.

This is a fact.

Apples are a good choice to help maintain oral health.

Make sure you wash them before you eat them. Some apples have a sticky wax build up on them.

Apple are fibrous the chewing motion can massage your gums and stimulate saliva flow, which is why some say they act as a toothbrush in a pinch.

Fruits, including apples, contain high levels of sugar and acidity when combined with plaque in your mouth they can weaken your teeth. Which is why some think apples are bad for your teeth.

As a general rule, at least rinse your mouth out with water to rinse away any sugars or acids that could be harmful to the enamel of your teeth. Preferable fluoridated water. Most bottled water does not contain fluoride.

I ate apples and saltines when I was pregnant they were the only thing that stopped my nausea. For me apples are good!

Remember to include other healthy foods in your diet, brush at least twice a day, floss once a day and visit your dentist regularly.
