October is National Dental Hygiene Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month and now, more than ever, we want to do our bit for both these causes.

Like so many of us, our lives have been touched by people close to us who have suffered from this disease. We are not alone in this; in fact, one in eight women will have breast cancer at some point in their life, and 100% of women will know someone who is diagnosed with breast cancer.

Turns out I am one out of eight! I will be sharing my journey! What are the odds I would be diagnosed the same week Breast cancer awareness starts?

Prevention and early detection of cancer is a cause that is close to my heart, and as a Burst Ambassador, I incredibly honored to support  BURST in Stand Up To Cancer and The Pink Fund.

For the month of October, BURST will be donating 20% of the sales to the Rose Gold Sonic Toothbrush and the Pink Ribbon Package to Stand Up To Cancer. Their mission is to accelerate the pace of cancer research, to get new therapies to patients quickly, and save lives.

Burst is also contributing $25,000 to The Pink Fund, which provides breast cancer patients with financial support for basic needs, reducing stress levels and enabling them to focus on healing.

Thank goodness there are organizations like Stand Up To Cancer and The Pink Fund out there who are taking the fight to cancer. We still have so much to learn about this disease; how to treat it, how to prevent it, how to make people more aware of it.

Everyone loves a clean mouth,  and we think keeping your mouth clean is worth celebrating. So much so we are celebrating not just for a day, but for an entire month.  October is National Dental Hygiene Month. This month is dedicated to promoting healthy mouths all across the country, and celebrating your hard work at home and the hard work your favorite dental hygienist does to keep your pearly whites healthy and squeaky clean.

As part of Dental Hygiene, we also need to be aware bleeding gums are not normal and can be a sign something is wrong. We sometimes just dismiss early warning signs, thinking they are no big deal. Don’t just brush off the signs. Get them checked out. Your mouth is an early warning system for a way too long we have treated our mouth separate from our bodies it is time we are aware just how to mouth the health of our mouth affects our bodies.

In the midst of a global pandemic, the dental hygiene community has come together in extraordinary ways. We are raising our voices. Hardships endured,  together, we are emerging stronger than ever as essential health care providers.

A Healthy Smile Lasts a Lifetime, we not only clean teeth we closely examine various oral manifestations throughout our patient’s mouth. because of the lasting effects, undiagnosed issues can have on a child’s and adult’s mouth. We have been told brush, floss, and visit your dentist twice a year it is about more than that.

Bleeding gums, cavities, mouth breathing, snoring, teeth grinding, all are not normal. We are bringing awareness to how our mouth is connected iced to other illnesses in the body. Stand up be a part of the solution.

So, we hope you’ll join us in whatever way is meaningful to you, whether that be purchasing a Pink Ribbon Package for you or someone you care for, getting a screening, or making a donation.
