We are going to talk about habits. A habit is a routine or behavior, an automatic response to a specific situation, in many cases it is subconscious. We are not even aware you are doing it most of the time that is how automatic habits become. We all face challenges in life, it is your mindset and the way we respond we most likely learned as a child from our parents. The process of habit formation starts with trial and error. In any situation in life, your brain has to make a decision. Habits are simply reliable solutions to recurring problems in your life. When similar situations arise your brain just reacts without thinking
A habit is a behavior that has been repeated enough times it becomes so automatic you don’t even think about it you just do it. We all have both good and bad habits.
Take brushing your teeth in the morning. That is a good habit. Unconscious habits are breathing, going to the bathroom, checking your phone. Your particular habit will depend on your situation, beliefs, and goals. All habits serve you in some way, good or bad.
I always wondered why I did some of the things I do. It was not until I got older and my parents moved in with me I realized I got those traits from my parents. For example, riding in the car yelling at drivers to move over to the right lane if you want to go slow. My Mom does that. Putting ice in my milk..My dad does that. Unconscious habits are things I do I am not even aware of because that is how we did things when I was little. I watched my parents become my habits. I laughed when I realized it. Being aware of the first step to being able to change an unwanted habit.
One of the biggest challenges in changing habits is maintaining awareness of what we are doing.
How do you start a new habit or break an old one?
If you are having trouble changing habits it probably is not you, it is your system. Habits generally repeat themselves because you have not changed your system. I always say change your habits and change your life. When in reality you might want to develop a new system.
Changing habits is a process of repeating behaviors until it leads to physical changes in the brain. Once you d=sting together enough successful attempts it becomes automatic.
I was told I would not have children by six different doctors. I kept changing doctors no matter how many times I was told I can’t, I believed I could. I found a Doctor that was able to change my cycle. Once I had a consistent menstrual cycle I was able to get pregnant and stay pregnant even after eight miscarriages. I created a new habit that changes how my body responded and I was able to get the outcome I desired.
It is normal to feel a little overwhelmed and want to quit when making changes, know you are not alone. Stepping out of your comfort zone is the best way to make a change. If you are uncomfortable it can be a good thing. You are capable of creating anything you desire by making it attractive and surrounding yourself with people that will support you on your journey,
