DIY Sanitizing Your Toothbrush

Bacteria tend to grow in warm, dark moist places.

Sanitizing your toothbrush will reduce 99.9% of the bacteria on your brush.

Most people rinse their brush with warm water to get out the leftover toothpaste and let it air dry.

Letting your toothbrush dry is an important step to reducing the bacteria on it. Keeping it away from the toilet is also a good idea. closing the lid on the toilet when flushing will help keep airborne bacteria at a minimum.

I use essential oils to sanitize my toothbrushes

Recipe:
1/2 cup water
2 tsp Baking soda
1 tsp Hydrogen peroxide
20 drops Your favorite essential oil

Soak for 5-15 minutes tap and let the bristles dry

I like peppermint
Cinnamon is a great antibacterial
Use Orange for whitening

If someone in your family is sick I recommend putting your toothbrushes in the dishwasher to sterilize them or replacing the brush with a new one. You can also boil it in hot water just don’t leave it in for too long or it will melt and change the integrity of the brush and make it less effective at removing the biofilm, plaque and bacteria in your mouth.

Make sure if your keep them in the same place in the bathroom the bristles do not touch any other family members toothbrushes.

If you do not have a dishwasher or essential oils you can use an antibacterial mouth rise like Listerine.
